Physics Potential and Status of the LHCb Experiment

Barnhard Spaan (Dortmund)
DESY auditorium, 17:00h

The tremendous success of the B-factories has established Flavour Physics as a key element in probing the standard model for the existence of New Physics. At the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, b-quark pairs are copiously produced. Contrary to the B-factories, measurements including time resolved measurements - in the system can be performed with high precision, thus opening another sensitive window to the search for New Physics. The LHCb-experiment is optimized for high precision measurements in the and the -Systems. Therefore, highest sensitivity to New Physics is given. The talk covers the physics potential and the status of the LHCb experiment..
