Search for New Physics with Atomics Clocks

Ekkehard Peik (PTB Braunschweig)
DESY auditorium, 17:00h

Atomic clocks are the most precise measuring devices available and consequently they play a prominent role in experimental tests of Relativity and in a search for New Physics. A new generation of optical clocks with laser cooled and trapped atoms or ions offers further improvements over cesium clocks that are used in the realization of the SI second. I will report on recent developments of optical clocks at PTB and on some tests of fundamental physics like searches for violation of local position invariance or for temporal variations of fundamental constants with atomic clocks of different kind.
