The Appearance of a Tau Neutrino in OPERA

Caren Hagner (Universität Hamburg)
Seminar Room 3, 15:00h

The OPERA experiment is searching for the appearance of tau-neutrinos
in a beam of muon-neutrinos. The muon-neutrinos are produced at CERN
and sent over a distance of 730km to the Gran Sasso Lab (LNGS) in Italy.
I want to present the status of the experiment after the first three years of
data taking. In the spring of this year the OPERA collaboration has
identified a first candidate for the interaction of a tau neutrino. Therefore
a special focus of my talk will be the presentation and discussion of this event.
