An Update of the Parton Distributions for the LHC

Robert Thorne (University College London)
Seminar Room 3

I present an update of the extraction of parton distributions and consequences
for the LHC. I begin by discussing the issues involved in a full study at NNLO,
showing that the consequences of the complete heavy flavour treatment are
surprizingly large. I show the influence of new data sets on the parton
distributions, with significant effects for the gluon and down and strange
quark distributions. Finally, I briefly illustrate the influence that the
measurement of standard processes at the LHC will have on the distributions.
