Quantum Universe Video Colloquium: B-physics anomalies and the flavor problem

Recent data in semileptonic B-meson decays indicate a coherent pattern of deviations from the Standard Model predictions. I critically review these data and discuss their interpretation, both in terms of a generic effective-theory approach and in terms of more complete extensions of the Standard Model. I will discuss in particular how present data points toward new dynamics not far from the TeV scale, possibly by linked to the origin of the flavor hierarchies. Implications for future measurements both at low- and high-energies are also briefly discussed.
