Comparative Quantum Gravity

Hermann Nicolai (Potsdam)
DESY Auditorium, 16.45 h

The search for a consistent theory of quantum gravity reconciling Einstein's theory wiht quantum mechanics is probably the greatest challenge of modern theoretical physics. In this talk I will first explain the need for such a theory, and then review some of the main approaches at an introductory level, both with regard to their current status as well as their future prospects.
