Neutrino Physics - The hundred year quest

Jacob Schneps (Tufts)
DESY Auditorium, 17:00 h

We will first review the path that braught us from Pauli's hypothesis of 1930 to the state of knowledge of the standard three-neutrino model achieved by the early years of the new millenium. We will then look at more recent developments that determine some of the parameters of this model and hint at phenomena that go beyond it, e.g., sterile neutrinos, differences between neutrino and anti-neutrino behaviour, non standard interactions. Finally we will look at what we know about the three-neutrino model, what we don't know, and plans and proposals for future experiments, over both the short term and the long term, to improve our knowledge and seek new phenomena.
