PIER Colloquium: Future accelerator facilities - for particle physics and beyond

Brian Foster (DESY / Hamburg University)
CFEL (bld. 99) SR I+II, 16:30

Brian Foster will survey the ideas for future accelerator facilities in the world, as discussed in recent strategic roadmaps, concentrating on the energy frontier. These possibilities include both linear and circular colliders with leptonic and hadronic beams.
He will also survey ideas based on plasma-wave acceleration which have the potential to eventually open up a completely new energy regime. He will illustrate many of these concepts with work going on here in Hamburg.
