Searches for exotic heavy particles with ATLAS

The large hadron collider defines the current high-energy frontier of particle physics. Its high centre-of-mass collision energy has opened up the possibility of producing a wide variety of heavy new particles that previously lay far beyond our reach. In this seminar I will review recent searches for exotic heavy bosons and heavy fermions performed by the ATLAS collaboration. I will also discuss the prospects for searches with 13 TeV LHC data still to come.
