The LCLS: Where we are and where we are going

The Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS) is the world's first hard x-ray (1.5 A) operating x-ray free electron laser (XFEL). This talk will outline the commissioning and early operation of the LCLS providing some intriguing results from first experiments on clusters. The early success of LCLS has convinced the U.S. Department of Energy to look at the next phase. This talk will outline the initial concepts to keep the LCLS as the world's leader in XFEL facilities.
