R&D for Detectors for the International Linear Collider

Chris Damerell (RAL)

There is a considerable ongoing effort world-wide to develop detectors matched to the challenges of ILC. The community has just completed a first round of reviews of the main detector systems (tracking, calorimetryand vertex detectors). In this talk, we consider the outcome of these reviews, the remaining major open questions, and the prospects for solving the outstanding problems in time to build the ILC detectors. Not surprisingly, the conclusions are that we need more resources and more talented people, both of which willhopefully emerge as the momentum of this project picks up.
